Marenne Welten (b. 1959, the Netherlands) was born in a wooden house in the middle of an orchard. Her father was a sculptor and she loved watching him at work in his studio. She went on to attend the St Joost Academy for Fine Arts, Breda, the Netherlands, and now paints at her home and studio in Middelburg, on a peninsula in the south of the Netherlands. Her paintings have been exhibited internationally in solo exhibitions at several galleries and museums including the Stedelijk Museum Breda, the Netherlands; Galerie Van de Berge, the Netherlands; Kabinetten van De Vleeshal Middelburg, the Netherlands; Museum Kurhaus Kleve, Germany; Kunsthalle Lingen, Germany; Kunstverein GFJK Baden-Baden, Germany; De Pont Museum of Contemporary Art, the Netherlands; Spaceburo, Antwerp, Belgium; Albada Jelgersma Gallery, Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Harkawik Gallery, New York, United States. Her artwork is in the public collections of the Stedelijk Museum Breda, De Pont Family, ABN-AMRO, Leiden University Medical Center, Museum Kurhaus Kleve, and Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
