Martyn Cross (b. 1975) is a visual artist living and working in Bristol, UK. His paintings draw upon mythology and folklore, the medieval, and ideas of human metamorphosis. Working with oil on canvas his imagery frequently conjures landscapes that are personified and which suggest the potential for earthly things to share matter. Cross’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with his most recent solo exhibition being Earth Hymns at Ratio 3, San Francisco (2021). His work has featured in group shows A Thought Sublime at Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York (2021) and Myths of Observation at Hales Gallery, London (2022). He is currently working on a solo presentation for Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York, and a solo exhibition at Hales Gallery, London, both scheduled for the latter part of 2022.
