Lara Karadoğan makes tile relief paintings that test the accessibility of images across carved clay surfaces. Lara syncs histories of Islamic tiling and language translation tablets onto clay networks. Fluorescent gradients run underneath painted landscapes, charging the circulating speed of images. She traces recognizable symbols across invented data. Tracking the grey zones between her Turkish, Spanish, and English languages, she strives for the shared shape of a word. Lara lives and works out of Providence RI, as she is receiving her AB and BFA at the Brown & RISD Dual Degree program.
