Leslie Giuliani is an American contemporary artist. Her work combines textiles, encaustic, oil painting and printmaking. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Giuliani received her BFA from The University of Delaware, with further studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Her work is represented in collections of the Housatonic Museum of Art, the State of CT and many private collections. She was the recipient of an Artist Fellowship Grant from the state of CT for Craft and a residency Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center. Giuliani lives and works in Weston, CT. In her latest work, Leslie Giuliani, paints intricately textured backgrounds on microfiber paper using Encaustic and Oil paint. These paintings she embroiders with her original drawings which she has transformed, using digitizing software, into complex stitch-able programs. These embroidered pieces are then further embellished with appliqued pieces of other Encaustic paintings stitched down with decorative, colorful stitching lines. Sometimes the bling of sequins is added. Giuliani’s theatrical set pieces create glimpses of otherworldly landscapes inhabited by imagined flora and fauna. ARTIST STATEMENT “I loved fairy tales and impossible adventure stories growing up. I wanted to believe that just around the corner, through a mirror or down a passage another world could exist with its own creatures, plants, atmosphere and gravity. Making this work gives me the license to create my own. I never plan these worlds. I just let them evolve through making, keeping the surprise and wonder alive.” - Leslie Giuliani, 2026
