Camille Stora maintains a close relationship with self-writing and reading. Her drawings are a form of journaling. The past insists and returns in sentimental, repetitive bursts, imposing a series, a ritual of forgetting. Mantras, wishes, laments, poems. The small size of the formats is striking. Going against the grain of painting large to create art, she insists on remaining, as often as possible, on the scale of a hand, a book, a phone. With a delicate use of color, through plays of transparency, layering, and revisions, she moves forward freely, in a deceptively repetitive way. She embraces a domestic rather than studio practice, sourcing her supplies from stationery stores, a way of not losing her thread, of finding a territory everywhere, tools adapted to all spaces. Camille Stora lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Fine Arts schools of Nice Villa Arson and Lyon.
