Cary Hulbert’s paintings emerge from daydreams, fantasy, and escapism, creating imagined landscapes where animals, plants, and shifting forms exist in harmony. She builds worlds where the boundaries between flora and fauna dissolve and environments continuously transform. She works primarily on panel and transparent mylar, using fluid acrylics and layered translucent color to create depth and a sense of unreality. Painting on both sides of the material allows forms to emerge gradually through overlapping layers. While the works appear dreamy and serene, closer inspection reveals strange details, inviting viewers into worlds shaped by imagination, transformation, and coexistence.
