MEPAINTSME is pleased to present Slight of Hand, our Gallery’s annual survey of small-format artworks. Now in its fifth consecutive year, this survey has provided MEPAINTSME a wonderful opportunity to showcase a diverse range of contemporary artists, who embrace a diminutive scale, and invite the viewer to engage with the quiet potency of art that exists within more intimate dimensions.

As the exhibition title suggests, embracing the subtle magic inherent in small scale work is to abandon passive distance and experience a personal, reflective connection with each piece. This iteration of Slight of Hand continued to document the evolving landscape of contemporary art through this micro-lens, reflecting not only the allurement of intimate scale, but also its incredible range—spanning delicate paintings, works on paper, intricate miniature sculptures, and mixed-media collages. By gathering such diverse practices under its cohesive theme, MPM Gallery highlights how constraints can serve as a catalyst for creative freedom.
