Sebastian Supanz (Austrian, b. 1989) studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at FAAP in São Paulo. His work has been shown in several exhibitions around Austria, Germany, and Croatia. In 2023, he will have his first institutional show at the Kunsthaus Muerz, Austria. Since 2019, Sebastian Supanz has been mainly working with colored wool as paint colors and a felting needle instead of a brush. The recurring motif of the knight is based on a children's drawing by his older brother and stands in direct contrast to the soft and tender qualities of the wool. In his newest body of work he is appropriating his own past creations by using AI, to then further appropriate and reinterpret selected generated digital versions into physical forms like felted wool or painting - questioning the concepts of authorship, authenticity and originality in the field of arts.
