Aidan McDonah (b. 2000) is a Canadian artist based in Nova Scotia. Currently an undergraduate fine arts student at NSCAD, McDonah’s artistic practice is multidisciplinary with focuses in oil painting, illustration, animation and filmmaking. McDonah’s work is informed by growing up in rural environments with his family and his interest in expressionist paintings. His work analyses loneliness and grief through memories of familiar locations, now changed from how they once appeared in archived media. His work is evidenced through large scale oil paintings and short films where he uses said archived material as foundations for his process. McDonah’s first exhibition, Dogtown, was displayed at the Anna Leonowens gallery in 2022.
